My Analysis of Country Girl Diner by Ralph Goings

This is another well-known Photo-realistic painting that Ralph Goings created. Just like many of his other paintings, this is a scene in a Diner. This was a common theme in almost all his art pieces. This one is a little different then the other pieces because it includes human life, the waitress’s and the people being served. It’s amazing how it looks exactly like a picture, but Ralph Goings only used oil paints and a canvas to paint on. This is because of all the precise details that is added to every little aspect that is apart of this painting. This painting was created in 1985, when Ralph Goings had not yet started painting the specifics of a Diner, like the condiments. This work of art also looks as if it was taken out of a movie, because there is a lot of movement going on, even though it’s a still painting. As you can see, in the bottom left corner on the Diner counter there are condiments such as ketchup, salt, pepper and a few more. Later on in his career he will start to focus on those objects, but right then he was painting the overall picture. It may not be the first thing that people look at when looking at this painting, but the main colors that are used to create this art are blue’s, red’s, black’s and white’s. I think Ralph Goings focuses a lot on capturing a picture of the Diner because he feels comfortable painting those actions and objects because it is not his first time. His focal point for this painting would probably be the man sitting at the table waiting for his food, and the waitresses preparing the food. It is important that people understand that this is another piece of art that is apart of his style of art. He has multiple paintings of Diner’s, and the insides of Diner’s, but this is an addition and an important addition because it portrays his style at the time. This piece, just like any other art piece has a meaning and is significant in its own way, whether it’s shown or not as obvious. The main point for this picture was to show this interesting style and the unique way of showing it off. Many don’t look at this picture as art, but this is the true meaning of Photo-realism.
